CANCELLED – SUMMER DAY CAMP 2020 – Queen Charlotte
*Due to the changes in our Local State of Emergency, we are no longer able to host our Summer Day Camps. We hope to offer a virtual at-home camp option soon!*
Haida Gwaii Recreation is excited to bring back our Summer Day Camps for their 40th year! These camps offer a full week of fun activities for your child/ren and this year we’re getting outside, physically distancing as much as we can, building relationships among our youth, creating opportunities for mentorship, practicing good hand hygiene, and enjoying healthy snacks with the help of the Local Foods to School program!
This year’s capacity for camps is limited to 10 attendees/week due to COVID-19. Please only sign your child/ren up for ONE week of camp. To be placed on a waitlist for the 2nd week of camp, please e-mail email@example.com.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT CAMP THIS SUMMER
We’re doing things differently due to COVID-19 to ensure the safety of all registrants while ensuring a fun and engaging program for all! This includes physical distancing, getting outside as much as possible, frequent hand-washing, and regular cleaning of high-touch surfaces. Please be aware that enforcing physical distancing among children is tough; to mitigate risk and encourage play, we will reduce the number of children in each program and emphasize hand hygiene. We have adapted activities to emphasize physical distancing and allow for most of these activities to take place outdoors. However, it is vital that children be permitted to play and there may be some shared use of equipment (e.g. playgrounds) and some games may involve some level of interaction (e.g. capture the flag). We will post details of our COVID-19 Program Safety Plan for each camp on this page and www.hgrec.com/covid-19 once finalized. In accordance with public health recommendations, we recommend that anyone who is at high risk of severe illness from COVID-19 does not attend programming at this time. We will do our best to implement our COVID-19 Safety Plan, but the risk remains that a COVID-19 outbreak could occur despite our best efforts!

These conditions may change at any time to reflect evolving public health orders. Sorry, no drop-ins permitted.
HOW TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD
In addition to completing registration & payment online, parents/guardians must read & sign individual waiver forms and COVID-19 Assumption of Risk & Permission Forms for each child. These forms MUST be sent to the Recreation Coordinator prior to the start of camps. Failure to provide this documentation to the Recreation Coordinator will mean your child/ren will not be able to attend our camps! Please contact us if you have any issue completing these forms:
Send these forms directly to email@example.com as soon as possible following registration. If you have trouble registering online or wish to pay by cheque or e-transfer, you can use our paper form and submit all supporting documentation as soon as possible.
